Chats are disposable. Files are the institution

This is the mental model that fixes most of the other problems, so it is worth getting straight early.

People treat a chat like a relationship — they build up context over hours, the assistant gets sharper, and then they are afraid to start a new one because they will “lose” it. That instinct is backwards, and it is expensive.

The conversation is not where the knowledge lives. The folder is. Chats are employees you spin up and let go; the files are the company they work for. So the real work of getting good at this is not conversational skill, it is writing things down — decisions, rules, what is true about your business — into files that every future session reads automatically.

Do that, and a brand new chat starts smarter than a six-hour-old one, because it is reading the conclusions instead of wading through the dead ends.
