The fear is replacement, and I understand it, but I think it is aimed at the wrong thing.
Look at what actually stopped you from working for yourself. Not talent — you already have the skill. It was that a business needs a developer, a marketer, a designer, someone to run the ads, someone to answer the email. You could do one of those. You could not do seven, and you could not afford to hire six.
That is the exact constraint that just got removed. Which means the same technology being described as a threat to employees is, for anyone willing to learn it, the thing that makes not being an employee possible for the first time.
